FAO Year 1 Weekly Roundup11 October 2024 (by Ellie Gath (Ellie Gath)) |
Hi everyone,
Year 1 have had a lovely autumn-inspired week and have done some great learning. We went for an autumn walk on Wednesday to collect leaves and create artworks using the colours orange, red and brown.
In English we carried out our assessments for this half term, where we wrote a story following on from the book we have been reading called 'Puffin Peter'. The children came up with some great ideas for this, and we will have a look at these during parents evening.
We also did our Maths assessment this week, which was done in small groups and focused on what we have learnt so far, including numbers up to 20, equal values and positioning.
In RE we discussed what type of person the creator of the world must be, and the children thought of some great words such as 'mighty', 'unstoppable' and 'powerful'.
We enjoyed some circle time again this week in PSHE whereby we all had a chance to reflect upon how we work as a team from our last lesson, and to talk about what we do if a friend does something to make us feel sad.
Our Curriculum focus for this week is Geography, and the children were very intrigued to find the school and their houses on Google Earth, thinking about where we are in the world and the differences between a city, town and a village.
Well done to those who took home certificates for spending the most time on Numbots this week and to our star of the week who takes home Nelly the elephant for the weekend.
Hopefully we have all managed to login to Google Classroom now to access our weekly homework, please let me know if you are still struggling with this.
Also just a reminder that we will have PE with the coach on Monday so please try to remember PE kits. Thanks!
Hope you all have a relaxing weekend :)
