FAO Year 1 Weekly Roundup8 November 2024 (by Ellie Gath (Ellie Gath)) |
Weekly Roundup 08/11/24
Year 1 have started practising songs for our Christmas nativity play which is very exciting, and will be sent home today with their parts and scripts to practise at home.
In English we have been diving deeper into fairy tales that we may already know, comparing them and thinking about which is our favourite, and have been focusing on Billy Goats Gruff this week. We will continue looking at fairy tales next week to help inspire our writing, moving on to Princess and the Pea.
In Maths we have explored number sentences with numbers up to 10, looked at how we find 'how many more or how many fewer' as well as how we find 'the difference' between two numbers.
In Art we experimented with different media and looked at abstract art, where we use different shapes to create our artworks.
On Tuesday the children enjoyed our first out-of-school trip in Year 1 for our Cross Country, showing off our super speedy running and coming back with a few certificates.
Thank you for the donations brought into school on Thursday on non uniform day, these are much appreciated.
This afternoon the children learnt all about Remembrance Day and why we have poppies, and drew their own poppy which will go on a whole school wreath for Monday.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Gath
