Weekly Roundup Year 1 22.11.24
Dear Parents,
Year 1 have had a great week, here’s what we’ve been up to:
Science
We’ve been exploring how animals can be grouped into categories such as mammals, amphibians, birds, and reptiles. The children had fun identifying which animals belong to each group and learning some facts about their features.
English
This week, we acted out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. After the role play, the children used their imagination to write descriptive sentences about what happens in the story.
Maths
Our focus has been on numbers 11-20, specifically learning to write these numbers as words. The children are making great progress and are becoming more confident in spelling these tricky number words.
RE
We took inspiration from Islamic art this week and created our own beautiful tile designs. The children enjoyed experimenting with patterns and symmetry.
PSHE
We’ve been discussing the importance of a good nighttime routine to help us feel our best. The children shared their own routines in circle time and came up with great ideas for calming bedtime habits.
Nativity Play
We have been practising our nativity every day and the children are doing a brilliant job learning their lines, songs, and movements. With only a little time left to practise, it’s coming together beautifully.
For Homework see Google Clasroom as usual.
Hope you all have a lovely weekend and hopefully lots of you will be here to join us for our Christmas Fair tomorrow :)
Thanks,
Miss Gath
