FAO: Whole school - sports day15 July 2026 (by Holly Evans (admin)) |
Dear Parents/carers,
Sports Week – 20th and 21st July
We are delighted to share information about our upcoming Sports Week.
The children will enjoy two exciting days of sporting activities, and we kindly ask that they come to school on Monday 20th July and Tuesday 21st July wearing their PE kit (black shorts or joggers, socks, and trainers), along with a T-shirt in their house colour if possible.
Please take the weather into consideration and ensure that your child is appropriately prepared with:
- Sun cream applied before school
- A sun hat
- Suitable clothing for the weather
- A named water bottle
Sports Day – Monday 20th July
Children from Year 1 to Year 6 will spend the morning working in their house teams, taking part in a carousel of sporting activities to earn points for their house.
Please note that this event is not open to parents and carers. However, there will be an opportunity for families to join us the following day (Tuesday).
Nursery and Reception
Nursery and Reception will be conducting their own carousel sports day at the same time of 10am which parents are invited to attend.
Sports Day – Tuesday 21st July
Children from Reception to Year 6 will take part in the class races during the morning. Nursery children will not be attending this event.
Parents and carers are warmly invited to join us from 10:00am for the class races, followed by a picnic lunch.
Competitive Races (approximately 10:00am)
The afternoon races will begin at approximately 10:00am. Each class will take part in a series of running races.
Classes will be brought out and seated in designated areas ready for their races. To ensure the safety and supervision of all children, we kindly ask that parents do not encourage children to leave their class teacher or teaching assistant to visit family members or siblings during the event.
Similarly, we ask that parents and carers do not enter the class seating areas and that children do not cross into the spectator area. This helps us ensure that all children are safely accounted for throughout the afternoon.
Once your child has completed their race, please remain where you are viewing, you will have a chance to congratulate your child when all races have been completed
Parent Participation
In the interest of ensuring the safety and smooth running of the event, there will be no parent race this year. However, we hope to invite Year 6 parents and carers to a sporting event with the Year 6 children in the coming weeks.
Registration (12:15pm)
Children will return to their classrooms to be registered before being collected by parents/carers for the picnic lunch.
Children whose parents/carers are unable to attend will eat their packed lunch with their class and staff.
Picnic Lunch (12:30 – 1:15)
There will be no hot school meals served on this day.
Children who are entitled to Free School Meals or Universal Infant Free School Meals will be provided with a packed lunch. If you would prefer to provide your own packed lunch, please email your child's class teacher.
Home Time
At the conclusion of Sports Day, parents and carers will be able to collect their children directly from their classrooms once Sports Day has finished, or at 1:30pm.
We hope the weather remains kind to us for Sports Week, and we look forward to welcoming you on 21st July for Sports Day.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Thorne
